I don’t have an iPhone and the touch screen stuff is ‘neat,’ but seems gimmicky to me. The iPhone and the iPod Touch have been out for some time, and yet, there is still no Flash player for the Apple gadgets. Apple partnered with Youtube to bring Youtube videos(.flv, flash video) to the gadgets. In the past, I was curious why .flv videos would play on the iPhone, but not Flash websites. Sounds like an easy fix, if the phone already plays Flash videos, why not the websites that are built on the same technology?
It wasn’t until I read the article below that I remember hearing something about Youtube converting videos for the new hardware. Every Youtube video was converted to an Apple friendy format. Why? Apple doesn’t want to be Flash compatible. Any of us who know how to use Flash could develop applications & games for the iPhone and Apple wouldn’t get their cut. Like I said, I don’t have an iPhone, so I never gave this much thought until I read the article below.
