Chernobyl’s Ghost Cities

Photo tour anyone?

Hand held video camera footage is completely the wrong medium, especially with the annoying canned audio loop, but it was on the youtube and easy to share.

I found this via Uncertain Times, but be sure to check out the Atlas Obscura site to see some great photos of the Prypiat, “a city of 49,000 founded in 1970 to house workers from Chernobyl. Only about three kilometers from the plant, the entire city was forced to evacuate.”

It’s pretty damn intriguing, reminds me of a post I did a year ago about Detroit public schools abandoned textbook warehouse.  It also reminds me of a project I have been photo assisting on that is documenting the remains of an ammunition plant.

Matrix: Silent Movie Version

It makes you wonder with the crack acting skills of Keanu, why wasn’t the original film silent?

Not exactly the scenes I would have chosen, but kudos to the Russians for making a really convincing parody of a silent film, pies and all.
