I spend a great deal of time criticizing Hollywood for its uncreative greediness and I am sure you get sick of my angry attitude. So, let’s switch gears for a moment. No I am not going to be positive, I am just going to complain about the music industry’s uncreative greed.
The director is one of the minds behind Eastbound and Down, and of course you’ll recognize the dad character from all the Sonic commercials. Notice, I said the character not the actor as he seems to be playing the same quirky guy.
Christian VanVuuren has been diagnosed with a serious form of TB and has been hospitalized since January 18th. Obviously you can see from the name of his video that he’s in full quarantine, stuck in a single room without a bit of yellow wallpaper to peel. I’ve had days where I’d be crazy enough to put something like this together, you guys are lucky I don’t have a camera. Anyway, I thought I’d share his video with you because he has a kick ass rap name, Fully Sick Rapper. Send him some love on his newly created twitter account.
While it is true that I use Apple’s OS, I am not a fanboy. I prefer it over Windows for everyday use, but I will use whatever is necessary to get a job done.
I can’t swear fanboy allegiance to Macs because I simply can’t think of one Mac user that hasn’t had a hardware issue of some kind, from iPod to desktop. Thus, they are no better than any of the crappy PC manufacturers. Of course without Apple fanboys, there would be no such thing as a Microsoft fanboy. Seems to be the only time people come out of the woodwork to defend Microsoft is when some douchebag does something like this:
Owning a Mac is like being an atheist for me. I don’t want to admit it because I’ll be persecuted. Smug, obnoxious people who will probably make this song their ringer on the iPhone make regular users like me look bad.
If you like the song, maybe you’ll like their other video, Mac or PC.
Whenever I hear music with a sample from something from my generation I turn into a curmudgeon and complain that the original was better. Unfortunately, much of the music in my generation is composed of sampling from 70s or earlier. Thus, I am always interested in the history of sampling. I’ll warn you it is long and lacks visual stimulus.
Nine or so years ago, during the hey day of dial up I was making silly desktop wallpapers and posting them up on the web because I thought I was cool. I was also learning how to use Flash and thought the Star Wars Gangsta Rap video was the coolest thing ever (I wonder if that old animation has hit the old people internet yet? Has your mom emailed the link to you?). Of course, times change and now I am sick of most of the Flash animations out there. I despise Star Wars for the most part because it is no longer an awe inspiring mythology, but a full force marketing company.
Is there an #ilj podcast this evening? It feels like forever since I have been to one. Almost as long as it has been since one was posted :P [sikkdays]
