Ever seen photographs of rake-thin models with cheekbones that could slash holes in cement, teetering along a catwalk in some bizarre outfit and wondered, “what the hell was the designer thinking of??”
I mean, take these shoes – what on earth could have been the inspiration for them?*
Well, wonder no more. Someone has been diligently applying themselves to the inherent mathematical nature of things and posting them on the web for all to see. For example, here’s is one such fashionista’s 1+1=2:
Well, now we know just what went through Viktor & Rolf’s minds – apart from fresh air. More to be seen over at Fashematics.com.
Thanks to Madragoran for the fab find!
* Probably something that involved S&M, or a desire to see how gullible people are. Or both. Probably both.
Again, these guys have made something entertaining but I’m not falling out of my chair with laughter. The last time one of their videos caught my attention- In The 80′s.
I blame the #pmog channel on IRC for this post being late. Chatting and being taunted by fellow players distracted me from posting. Thus, I’ve decided to share some funny links with you that other players posted in #pmog.
Fail
I love me some Fail blog and bunni3burn shared the following with the channel.
PUPPIES!
So, this live video feed of puppies has been going around the last couple of days and lehall posted a link to the puppies’ newly created Twitter account. So, if you want to try and translate your cutesy, animal baby talk to say something to the critters, go for it.
Musical Accompaniment
skawesome dropped the Sad Trombone on the #pmog channel when I was in there. A great link to pass onto someone deserving. Later, zous also brought out the Sad Trombone, probably to one of my lame comments. In response masteraramil mentioned Instant Rim Shot, sorry it’s a musical link too you perv.
A mission by user candyrain brought me to oneword. A great place for inspiration or a quick exercise to get through that writer’s block. Check it out, I found it interesting.
User candyrain also introduced me to a blog about Legos. Of course, there’s a blog for Legos, why wouldn’t there be? Yet, I have never been there until recently. Now, I am inspired to dig up the Legos so I have another timekiller. Pretty soon, I’ll have so many timekillers that I won’t have to be a productive member of society. Who am I kidding, I am already there.
I totally forgot about that crazy movie. Thanks to denndragon for the reminder. The website looks like it’s pretty old, but I was just happy to remember the film. I must put it on my Netflix so that I can bring Sikkdays readers another So Bad It’s Good Review, like ZardozJesus Christ Vampire Hunter, or these gems.
Pachelbel’s Canon in D
I’m sure those of you that are band geeks will enjoy this more than the rest of us, but bcb’s mission brought me this funny video about why all our top 40 crap sounds alike.
Hopefully, missions on PMOG will start working a bit better soon. I’ve already noticed some decent changes, I’m just having some major issues with broken missions that are 4-8 months old.
I have heard the name of the website throughout the campaign, but never really took the time to visit it as I figured it was like most of the other fact checking sites. Yet, thanks to speckledfrog‘s mission I was taken to the site and I got to see their truth-o-meters on various statements made by the candidates. Really clean and quick way to find out the truthfulness of a potential leader’s claim. BONUS: Another great site from speckledfrog, ontheissues.org. The site does its best to show visitors the stance of politicians in each state on a number of issues.
I am pretty damn frugal, but in today’s economy it is only going to get worse. Wisebread is an informative blog to help users with finances. The tag line is “living large on a small budget.” Thanks to PMOG user elke for this one.
Honestly, I have seen some better cloud mapping interfaces, but the idea of Gnovies is solid. Type in the name of a movie and it will show you a number of similar films. Suggested by rasputin4, the site offers you a number of choices for movie night when you are in the mood for something comparable to a favorite.
Wig Wam Bam
PMOG user bobcows introduced me to the bubblegum scene. Growing up listening to oldies, I was already familiar with the concept and many of the songs, but I have never heard the Wig Wam Bam before. Every once and a while, I like to throw a music video on the site and challenge you to watch it all the way through without bleeding from your eyes. This would probably fall in that category.
Lampshades
Finally, thekatiest brilliantly designed a mission all about lampshades. The following how to video is…well…stomach turning, yet enlightening.
Sweatshops are a product of our desire to have cheaper goods and these days it can be difficult to name one company that actually makes their clothes in the U.S. I found this link to No Sweat Apparel thanks to PMOG user anthrogeek.
Sometimes you search for something that is so popular, you have to dig a few pages through Google to find what you need. At least that’s what I think Last Google was created for, who knows? Brought to me by a mission by one of my allies, chetyre.
FAIL.
I love me some FailBlog.org so I jumped at the chance to take mortmer‘s mission of fail. It seems that a few blogs claim to be the original Fail Blog. Whatever, just more chances for us to laugh at the expense of others. Superfail, Shipment of Fail, Fail Dogs and the RotSky Institute can be added to your Fail viewing.
The biggest donor to this museum goes by the name of “trash.” The web page for MOBA is intriguing, though I think it would be much better to visit in person. It is nice to know that my work may end up in a museum, after all. Thanks to gaber for enlightening me with this museum of fail.
It looks like I don't have to work this weekend. Now, how will I feed the children? Oh, wait...I don't have any children because I ate them. [sikkdays]
Is there an #ilj podcast this evening? It feels like forever since I have been to one. Almost as long as it has been since one was posted :P [sikkdays]
