The only way this could be more awkward is if your mom was the actual instructor. Another great find by Rich over at fourfour.

You see how they clean it up? In hip hop dancing a dude will frequently grab his crotch. In country hip hop, he just holds his belt buckle the whole damn time.

Interesting Hip Hop History
Posted by Chris on Thursday, December 17, 2009

Whenever I hear music with a sample from something from my generation I turn into a curmudgeon and complain that the original was better. Unfortunately, much of the music in my generation is composed of sampling from 70s or earlier. Thus, I am always interested in the history of sampling. I’ll warn you it is long and lacks visual stimulus.

Chap Hop History by Mr. B The Gentleman Rhymer
Posted by Chris on Wednesday, October 28, 2009

Rap keeps getting more polite because gangsta rap is so 2000. Brett Domino dropped the beats, Mr. B is picking it old school. Seriously, he had me at banjo, not the fake mustache.

Nothing is Original
Posted by Chris on Sunday, December 7, 2008

Yep, we can’t come up with new movie ideas, so we have to remake ones that are barely a decade old. People rip images from the web instead of making their own. Computers make us lazy.  Of course, then we have samples.  No secret that hip hop is full of samples of groovy tunes from back in the day. Though, it is strange that it is so accepted.  I am an artist!!  Yes, it is true that I only photograph famous paintings, tint them pink in Photoshop, print the photo, frame it and hang it in a gallery but it is all part of my artistic vision.  You just don’t get it.  Anyway, I enjoyed learning about samples from funktuall. He’s got like 7 or 8 volumes, here’s part one, click the ‘read the rest of this entry’ for part 2 and 3.  Click his name for above for his youtube page to watch more. I am really enjoying them so far.
