Another slick animation from The Animation Workshop in Denmark. I recently posted Out of a Forest, a film from the same school. I love the transition in the beginning, quick & fun.

Vegeterrible‘s story of an avocado gone bad reminds me of a Far Side cartoon:

This is absolutely stunning.

The Animation Workshop is a school in Denmark, and Tobias Gundorff Boesen directed the film as his Bachelor’s project. Tobias has a good deal of behind the scenes information on his blog if you are so inclined.

Free Jimmy & Terkel
Posted by Chris on Friday, October 31, 2008

The other day a friend on PMOG suggested a Norwegian 3D film via this article.  The article was interesting and the film was decent.  Great script(English version by Simon Pegg), but the animation, in my opinion, was sub-par.  The look of the animation was so-so, but the movement was very, video game stiff.  Here’s the trailer for Free Jimmy

That movie reminded me of a trailer I saw for another Norwegian animation.  Oh, I guess it is from Denmark, like you know the difference.  The trailer below looks funny, but I have yet to find it so that I can watch Journey to Saturn.

Now, the plot thickens more because the trailer mentions Terkel i knibe as the successful film that precedes Journey to Saturn.   When I went looking for Free Jimmy, I found Terkel in Trouble(English translation) and watched it also.  Terkel was pretty damn funny.  I really liked it and definitely recommend it. The version I saw was the Danish version with English subtitles.  When I went trolling for clips on youtubez, I found this song in English.

It turns out that there is an English version of Terkel in Trouble, but some of the song titles seem pretty tame compared to what I saw.  I think they might have toned down the rude, graphic language that was so fun.  The moral lesson of Terkel is “that real friends should err…have 20 minutes in the oven at 250° Celcius.” At least that is what it said at the end of the film.
