Fractally demotivated and yet… uplifted too.

Well, entertained, anyhow.
Over at the site www.verydemotivational.com, I was having a browse. Some were funny, some weren’t. Same old, same old.
And then I found this epic little gem of a gif.
In case you weren’t aware before, people do like to nitpick and react to things (yeah, I know, break out the sunglasses before I release another flash of the bleedin’ obvious, right?). So, when someone creates a poster, someone is likely to use the whole thing and put their own caption on it.
THIS is what happens when everyone just gets a little carried away…

Emmanuel vs the stick figures
Posted by Madragoran on Monday, August 2, 2010

Disclaimer people that know me know I have a thing about fashion… as in I hate it! I get mad when I hear people talking about how fashion empowers women and how it helps them be the best they can be. I am a textile engineer dude, I know that a t-shirt costs about 1 euro to produce ( if it is produced in Greece and might be  a bit more if there is shiny stuff on it and prints).   So why on earth would I pay 240 euros for a plain black t-shirt?  Lets forget about little kids sewing your footwear and sports kit or ladies being boarded on a ship to work at sea in international waters so that their employer is free from things called laws and stuff. Lets keep it light. Look at this (there are boobs involved) and then look at Victoria’s Secret.  The difference is just about 30 something years. The 70′s  ladies got boobs, they got thighs and at least they don’t stare at the camera like crack-heads. (No I am not turned on by  boyish girls not even by boyish boys). You don’t have to agree with me and please tell me so but why is a commercial showing these nymphets allowed on prime time tv, while the one bellow isn’t?

I want to be an unsolicited manuscript writer….
Posted by Madragoran on Thursday, July 22, 2010

I got a dream…

I want to be a writer. A real published one. I am working on it and I have a book stuck on the last chapter, supposedly delayed because of my thesis writing.  Anyway, I am sure you’ve heard it all before but let me assure you I have no misconceptions about the chances of my making it and  I sincerely hope I am not as bad as some of  these people. The link is to the tumblr  of a literary agent who vents frustration over queries he/she has received.  A specimen  for your delectation “I’d like you to consider representing my fictional novel.” Like … thank glod dude it’s not an actual honest to god novel. The whole thing is just 5 pages long but it varies from the ALL CAPS person to the God speaks through me loony. All in all something to make your day.

And what would a post about writing be  without this song?

Jon Lajoie vs Boy Bands
Posted by Chris on Sunday, June 6, 2010

I spend a great deal of time criticizing Hollywood for its uncreative greediness and I am sure you get sick of my angry attitude. So, let’s switch gears for a moment. No I am not going to be positive, I am just going to complain about the music industry’s uncreative greed.

Just watch it. Hilarious.

I bet this girl is the intended audience.

Pokemon is fiction. What’s not to get?
Posted by Spike Matthews on Saturday, May 8, 2010

Following on from my scientific leaps of the imagination, here’s someone who clearly doesn’t quite get that fiction, in all its forms is just that. When you make up a story, complete with characters and places for them to live, the key thing to remember is that it’s done primarily for entertainment. And kids don’t necessarily give a shit whether things like ray guns, Superman or time machines could possibly work or not.
It’s meant to be fun.
In fact, I would say this ‘Valigarmander’ was an utter devotee of Pokemon until he got a bad case of ‘Santa isn’t real’ syndrome…

Luke – I am your trainer.
Posted by Spike Matthews on Sunday, May 2, 2010

Following on from the not-so-recent attempt to get Jediism recognised as a legitimate religion, a guy called Jeremy Flynn has apparently opened a gym specifically for folks who want to channel The Force – And Star Wars characters themselves – in an attempt at self-betterment.
Please note my use of the word ‘apparently’.

Oh, and it’s well worth reading the notes on the clip AFTER you’ve watched it.

Cheers to George over on Facebook fer this one.

Editors – Eat Raw Meat=Blood Drool
Posted by Chris on Thursday, April 29, 2010

This is an intense music video, at least is was to me because I had read the band’s statement about the video. This is posted on Cartoon Brew & Antville without any source reference so I don’t know where they got this quote, but here you go:

Ultimately the video paints a truthful picture of the lies which affect our current state of existence in a (so called) free world. From the moment we’re born we are controlled, manipulated, and led astray from what really matters in life – freedom. We are orchestrated from high above; even our leaders are merely puppets/clowns with their strings being pulled by powerful groups out of sight. Conspiracy theories, Illuminati, The New World Order; the free world is no longer free, our decisions no longer our own. An Orwellian future which has come to be realised within our own lifetime – A case of the corrupt blind leading the free minds.
