Television is having a hard time adapting to the age of television, but is 3D the answer? 3D technology still seems pretty gimmicky to me. Thus, the idea that it is coming to television in the next 2-3 years does nothing to impress me. It almost feels like a step in the wrong direction. Read the rest of this entry »
Another interesting piece by the brit, Charlie Brooker. What counts for news these days is polarizing comments, drama and celebrity rehab information. There isn’t really any reporting of any kind and Brooker shows you the basic format.

He did a piece a while back on Reality TV editing, but apparently I never posted it. That one starts slow, explaining editing but the reality part is very good.
Christmas is coming up fast. You know, the holiday about shopping and consumption?
So, do you need a unique or silly gift for that special someone? How about the Nicholas Cage Adventure Set?
It comes with a background that is two-sided so you can have all sorts of adventure. Bad acting not included, you’ll have to supply that yourself.
Artist Brandon Bird always has some hilarious stuff on his site. I have been frequenting his site for the last 3 years. If the Nicholas Cage Adventure Set isn’t for your friend have a look at his other works.
This break dancing robot is more personable than a b-list celebrity on a cheesy dancing reality show. Just my opinion.

There are only 2 types of dances in the future. The Robot & the RoboBoogie.

So using hair follicles My DNA Fragrance will manufacturer custom scents. They now have an Antiquity line so that you can smell like your favorite dead celebrity. They have a whole slew of creep scents for you like Nixon, Susan B. Anthony, Charles Dickens and many others. I don’t know, maybe it is creepier to have them make your own scent. The tag line the company uses: Your fragrance is in the bottle, but the scent is in you.
Elvis hasn’t left the building, he sprayed it like a skunk.
I always forget about the fun over at current_tv. I spotted this over at urlesque and I enjoyed it.
Multiple layers of commentary in one funny toon. First we have to hate anything that gets too popular. Second, the toon makes fun of the absolute retardedness of getting the most followers/friends/connections in social networks. (You can make fun of my stupidity for making up a word like ‘retardedness’ in the comments or in animation form.) Finally, the animation jabs at the silliness of these supposedly legit celebrity accounts.
If you don’t have HBO, like me, do yourself a favor and use this computer you are sitting at to seek out episodes of Eastbound & Down. The brash ego of Kenny Powers is every professional athlete, reality celebrity and actor wrapped up in one. Face it, we love to see the mighty fall. This is a super short series, from what I am reading 6 episodes, and the last one is next week. This may be a good format for our busy-busy schedules, or it may leave us wanting more. I don’t want to debate that, I just want to recommend the show because it is great.
I’d love to find some clips and post them here, but we all know they’ll get pulled down. Though the other night Kenny Powers’ assistant, a fellow teacher at the local school, made a video for Kenny Powers to shop around to scouts. The whole thing is on youtube:
The series is put together by Danny McBride(Kenny), Will Ferrell and friends. Episode 5 was very interesting as Kenny gave up his dream and decided to be normal. That’s a tough job for a self-proclaimed mega star. The writing and acting was great as ever, yet Adam McKay(Anchorman, Step Brothers) directed and it reeked of wannabe independent film style. Much like Step Brothers, McKay tried to use an awkward score and weird angles like he was borrowing the style of Juno or some other heady emo movie.
