EFF PSAx2: Pass Them Around
Posted by Chris on Wednesday, August 4, 2010

The future is a scary place. Sometimes I think I would rather have a post apocalyptic future than the one we are headed towards. Technology is bringing us closer to the world of Minority Report when it comes to big brother and advertising.

I’ll say it again, I love truth in advertising.

Golfing for geeky goons
Posted by Spike Matthews on Thursday, May 6, 2010

…or goony geeks, whichever works fer you…

Who doesn’t like crazy golf? The proper crazy golf, that is, not the type where the odd mound or dog-leg is about as exciting as it gets. The thing is, CG only seems to be played when yer on holiday and everything else is shut, the weather has or is about to turn nasty, but the folks have said, “we ARE going to play this and we ARE going to have fun.”

Bugger that.

Why not partake of a little Flash goodness then? Why not play Adverputt? No! Come back! This is nothing at all like the other advertising games. It’s not obtrusive, and you can even sponsor one of the holes yerself if yer of a mind to. In the meantime, just waste a few minutes puttering around this course, which is strangely reminiscent of Mousetrap….

Go on, play the game, ye know ye want to!

Hi-Fi or Lo-Fi?
Posted by Spike Matthews on Saturday, April 10, 2010

Music is my opiate of choice and, like any junkie, I would go to great lengths to feed my addiction. I have two hi-fi separates systems, an mp3 player, a hard drive with nearly ¼million tracks on it and any number of small CD players dotted around the house.
My father, on the other hand, is an audiophile. Believing in quality over quantity, he needs (due to poor hearing quality) to have extremely clear sound. Quality of this calibre, of course, takes money. Great gobs of it. I’m happy with a pair of speakers that cost me roughly £100. Dad? Nothing less than four figures.
Which is why I WON’T be showing him this admittedly sweet bit of turntable…

Manufactured by Da Vinci Audio Labs, the paint job is classed as ‘Ferrari red’ and the general design has been created with the industrial manufacture of records in mind (explaining the depth of the turntable itself). All for a measly $64,000.

Blimey; I swear I could hear that intake of breath there. Bit pricey for ye? Too high-end? Okay, how about this then? It’s made with corrugated card and you turn the 7″ disc yourself, using a pencil. Now, that’s what I call lo-fi.

The only trouble with this specimen is that it’s primarily an advertising medium, and not on general release. Still, kudos to GGRP fer showing off their tech skills…

Rad Omen – Rad Anthem
Posted by Chris on Monday, January 11, 2010

This is just a great concept for a music video. I’ll spare you the rant on fast food, advertising and capitalism. You can draw your own conclusions. As all music videos, this is probably NSFW.

Palin Supporters at a Book Signing
Posted by Chris on Sunday, November 29, 2009

This video has been everywhere because liberal folks like seeing that they are right.  No, I don’t like Sarah Palin. I just think the video is a sad commentary on our political system all together. It’s all about image.

via Gawker

We get real caught up in image. Look at Obama, gays & lesbians just assumed he was behind them. Yet, he defended DOMA.

Elections are just elaborate marketing campaigns, now. And everyone knows that advertisers always make claims about their products that just aren’t true. We joke about the fine print that is barely readable. Bush & Gore pandered to voters so much in the 2000 election that many political cartoons & sketch comedy shows joked that they were the same person.

Tell the people what they want to hear to get their vote. Once elected, make the corporations/lobbyists happy. Fuck the people.

INTERESTING: Boycott ghostwritten books designed for branding.

Linked In …to what?
Posted by Chris on Tuesday, November 24, 2009

You can skip my rant and just watch the video.

I was just saying on Twitter how amazing it is to me that people are so eager to receive junk mail & advertising. I mean if someone asks for your name and address you get defensive about your privacy, unless they throw the words “Social Network” in front of their proposal.

Now we have people out there calling themselves professionals who are labeled Social Marketing experts. The job is to advertise the company they work for on social networks like twitter, facebook, etc. The name of the game is exposure. Forget quality interactions, lets just see how many fans we can get on our Facebook fan page because that means more customers! Let us worship our all mighty god QUANTITY!! As consumerism is our religion, MORE is our goal.

The folks who lampooned twitter have called out the LinkedIn in the following video.
