Adult Swim Promo by Kasper Hauser

This promo by San Francisco comedy group Kasper Hauser reminds me of a few cheesy corporate videos I’ve seen.

Robot Unicorn Attack
Posted by Chris on Wednesday, February 17, 2010

For someone who rarely plays games, I always find adult swim a good site. It seems to me that there are 6 or 7 types of free Flash games that are recreated over and over. For example, there are probably thousands of tower defense type games out there. Thus, if I ever get curious I can pop over to adult swim and see what’s new. The site isn’t burdened with millions of games to choose from, it just has a few representing the usual suspects you’ll find elsewhere.

So, what did I find there recently? Robot + Unicorn + Rainbow + A soundtrack from Erasure. It is so bad it is good. Two-button mashing insanity.

This game gave me flashbacks to Acrobat a game that I typed in, line for line into my Commodore 64.

The Flight of a Snow Flake
Posted by Chris on Sunday, December 13, 2009

It has been snowing quite a bit here in Michigan and I am sure it won’t let up until May.

I tell you what, this is taking me back to the days of Adult Swim Sundays. It has been a while since I have done that because I ran out of videos to share. Since so much time has elapsed, perhaps I should revive the weekly post. Of course, I am not a big fan of many of their new shows…hmm. What do you think?

Tarboy
Posted by Chris on Wednesday, November 11, 2009

I can be a harsh critic. It is especially easy when I don’t ever create any animation of my own. If I don’t try, I can’t fail, right?

Anyway, I am somewhat impressed by this piece. Though, it has a real Flash feel to it which gets old to me. All things in Flash have a certain look to them. Honestly, this may not have been done in Flash, but it feels like it nonetheless. At times this piece feels like some of the annoying Adult Swim stuff where there is practically no animation just an eye blink or an arm move. However, at other times Tarboy seems pretty fluid.

The music absolutely makes this animation. It is great. Some of the styling and transitions are pretty imaginative too.

Terminator – How It Should End
Posted by Chris on Friday, October 2, 2009

The main flaw with time travel movies? It’s fucking time travel. If you don’t first succeed, try again. The folks at howitshouldhaveended.com have come up with a solution.

Great mashup. I would have loved it if it was animated instead of (Adult) Swimmed. Moving the a stationary chunk of an arm or the camera isn’t really animation in my book.

Venture Bros. Season 4 Preview
Posted by Chris on Monday, August 24, 2009

I dropped the ball on this one. Once again, chetyre saves my ass. Last I heard, production on the next season of the Venture Bros. was behind schedule. This information was balanced with the announcement that show had been given an additional 3 episodes. However, Publick says they are now splitting season 4 into 2 sections. I freakin’ hate it when shows do that. Anyway, enjoy the preview.

The Ballad of G.I. Joe
Posted by Chris on Tuesday, August 11, 2009

I wasn’t into this until I got to Cobra Commander’s love for disco & Three Dog Night.

I don’t know. I think videogum nailed it. Star-studded videos overproduced for the Internet shouldn’t really be called viral. This criticism runs along the same vein as my beef with adult swim. I dislike the way adult swim thinks that making live action shows that look like they were produced with no budget, by community college students is funny. There’s a charm about something being legitimately bad. We can overlook the bad camera work, the fake beards & the dog shitting in the backyard because we are blown away by that certain something that made the video viral.
