Desktop gaming! Whoo… waitaminute…
Posted by Spike Matthews on Monday, May 31, 2010

When I was a kid (mumble) years ago, there was a barber I used to go to. It wasn’t the closest, not by a long shot. What made it so attractive though, was the Space Invaders console table in the waiting area.

At that time, it was the best thing ever and – oddly enough – his trade shot up. Especially after he put up a sign barring non-customers from playing.
I wanted one. Heck, I still do.
Until I win the lottery and have both the money and space to own it, this will have to do…

Ping Floyd presents ‘Dark Side of the NES’
Posted by Spike Matthews on Thursday, April 1, 2010

Yes, there is a damned awful pun in the title. You’ll forget it soon enough, trust me.
I was actually going to run with a “X+Y= Awesome!” title, but I already used that format fer the OK Go clip.

Back to business. One of the music magazines I read, Word, sends a weekly email of stuff to those who subscribe to their site. Sometimes it’s good, other times, ‘meh’ doesn’t begin to describe it…
This one is different; it has ‘win’ plastered all over it. I mean, who wouldn’t like to hear their favourite hits transformed into a bleepy 8-bit NES tune?
Kudos to Brad Smith who has rendered the entire ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ album into bitty goodness – along with much more.

Sadly, none of the clips actually have NES-style animation to go with the music, but ye can’t have everything, can ye?

Flairs – Truckers Delight

Wow.

Wow.

Filthy French animation is totally NSFW. I saw this over at horklog and set it aside to blog. The next day, I was checking out Line Boil and found it again.

What really wins me over is the description on the Vimeo, “an 8-bit Sega era style graphic.” If they had used Nintendo in the description I would have been irritated. However, I know you folks love that classic Nintendo garbage.

8-Bit Lego Wow
Posted by Chris on Tuesday, August 25, 2009

I am a bit late to the game on this one because I ignored it the first time I spotted it on a blog. Whatever site I was at, they were gushing over the video because of some Mario-Nintendo crap. I am not part of the cult of Mario, it bores me. However, chetyre sent me the video through twitter, so I gave it a chance on his recommendation. Check it out, if you haven’t already seen it.

This is a short stop motion piece made of win. Take a trip back to the 8 bit days via Legos.
