PMOG Link Monday vol. 14

Volume 14 brings you some music and some cynicism.

Songza

cuziam’s mission introduced me to this music site.  Search for that song you were thinking about and listen to it.  What is truly refreshing about the site, is that you can do exactly as I described by clicking the link.  In other words, the site doesn’t force you to give an email address or sign up for membership.

Music Mesh

I’ve found several sites with a similar interface to Music Mesh.  Some search engines have sprouted up utilizing this idea, but this is the first one that I have seen for music.  Basically, you find an album you like and a fancy visual interface shows you other albums by the artist(s) and similar albums.  Another find from cuziam.

 The Devil’s Dictionary

chthonic’s mission was a clever tour of sites guided by The Devil’s Dictionary, by Ambrose Bierce.  While this wasn’t a link in chthonic’s mission, I thought I’d share an indexed version of the Dictionary.  I believe it was published in 1911, but his definitions certainly ring true today.  Check out some of these new definitions:

PATRIOT, n. One to whom the interests of a part seem superior to those of the whole. The dupe of statesmen and the tool of conquerors.

CORPORATION, n. An ingenious device for obtaining individual profit without individual responsibility.

VOTE, n. The instrument and symbol of a freeman’s power to make a fool of himself and a wreck of his country.

LOVE, n. A temporary insanity curable by marriage…

A Guid to Life

Things They Don’t Tell You(But Should) is a virus comix that I thought was awesome.  PMOG user monagamie dropped this one on me, check it out, hilarious and true.
