Shake the World
Posted by Chris on Saturday, February 28, 2009

Sounds good on paper, ‘what is happening all over the world in one moment?’

However, they are asking you to tape yourself, so that seems less documented to me and more contrived. I mean you and your friends can go volunteer at a soup kitchen that day, but normally you would have just sat on your ass reading celebrity blogs, trolling youtube video comments and watching the Lifetime network all day. Plus, experiments with time, on film, just don’t ever seem to pan out. There was a film like this, Timecode, I tried to watch but I quit. That is saying a lot because I sat through Twilight.

Maybe I am just being a sarcastic douche, but it seems a little like a film school project gone wrong. I feel like all they are going to get is a bunch of youtube wannabes and videos of skateboard tricks. Yet, If you are interested, here’s the link to the film.

Optim-ism
Posted by Chris on Saturday, February 28, 2009

Apparently there are some legal issues with the infamous Obama poster. The poster parodies wore on me after the first one. Although I did pee a little when I saw this over at jolopnik.

Al Does Video Game Review
Posted by Chris on Friday, February 27, 2009

I think it is funnier to see Al documentary style, talking candidly about life than trying to entertain you in a video game review.

Facebook: Crime & Addiction

anti-flirt-club

Facebook has finally made it to “So popular, it’s not cool” status. Probably because your parents joined, but Time seems to argue it has been designed for old people all along in the article, Why Facebook IS for Old Fogies.

Did your parents join? There’s help for that: Oh Crap. My Parents Joined Facebook.

Also, Facebook is up there with Nike…If you don’t let me check my facebook on your laptop, I will cut you. Or something like that, You Know You’re Addicted to Facebook When…

Naughty Network Promo
Posted by Chris on Thursday, February 26, 2009

Old joke is old, and also NSFW.  It is true that this idea is as old as time itself, however the execution is a very nifty animation.

Another commercial for the same channel has a more traditional approach to this old joke.

Examined Life

“Rock Star Philosophers of our time,” featured in a documentary. The film may be of some interest, I haven’t decided.

At one point I wondered if I should go into philosophy, but then I was like, “How do they make a living?” Now I am loser blogger, so the title ‘philosopher’ may have had more sex appeal.

Want: Tim Kaiser Instrument Pleez!
Posted by Chris on Wednesday, February 25, 2009

The other day I noticed the local PBS station is playing MakeTV and I was very excited. I have yet to figure out when it is on, but I bumped into an episode featuring Tim Kaiser and I was mystified. Here is the segment on him and his work that I found on his site.

Looks like fun, but my Dutch ancestry is asking again, “How do you make money?” I guess he sells those groovy  instruments, the pessimist in me says no one would want to buy my stuff. Regardless of my issues that is some real groovy shit he does there.
